CAGE CULTURE ON OPEN WATERS

The commercial culture of fish in open waters using cages has been determined to be a veritable means of fish culture as the fish is reared in its natural; environment and because of the activity of water currents waste produced by the fish is ''carried'' and this ensures that the culture medium (water body) maintains constant optimal water quality, thus ensuring that the fish attains large sizes within shortest possible period.
The system also allows the culture of other species of fish other than catfish. We successfully cultured Tilapia, Chrysichthys (silver catfish i.e obokun).
